This month I decided to play along with the Mood Board too.. here’s my layout.
For the mega number “6” I used a Heidi Swapp number and spritzed it with water before dropping blobs of Golden acrylic paint in “crimson” and using a brush to wash the colour on. The Golden acrylic colours are very strong in colour and give a lovely water colour look. I then added messy stitching to the edges ( very messy!) before adhering it to my layout. This layout celebrates Capri and her lovely group of six friends.
Let’s see what some of our other Jot Girls have come up with.
Anna says, “I know red and pink together has always been seen as taboo but hey!! if you’re livin’ in the world TODAY it seems to be all OK! Loved the hearts and the black stripes so featured them on my layout. My page was all about how I totally love being a mum to my two girls even if sometimes they do make me crazy but ALWAYS happy they are mine :-)”
Mardi says, “The first thing that jumped out at me were those hearts…. I immediately thought of these gorgeous red hearts I had in my stash ( a beautiful gift from Jot girl Amanda). So my layout was based around the hearts and that striking black and white striped paper. Having these sweet photos of my daughter at a recent wedding made choosing a photo easy too.
Leanne says, “I’ve taken inspiration from the entire board but I immediately drew from the way the red heart pops against the black and white of the cookie and the layered floral print in the heart string. Once I gathered my supplies it was easy to bring the story of my daughter’s perfectly colour matched photo and the layers of black and red patterned papers. The black and white bold stripes in the back ground were toned down with a piece of Bella Blvd’s new clear cut transparencies and a few small touches of gold in the title and other embellishments completes the look I was trying to achieve.
Nat says, “I actually took my card inspiration straight from the photo of the cookie in lower left, and interpreted it very literally as my card design. The only exception was that I wanted to add the gold touches from the other photos and so I thought a shaker card with gold sequins was in order. Goes to show you that almost anything can inspire you to craft!”
Sheree says, “I loved working with this cute mood board full of hearts, stripes, red and gold! It was the perfect theme to scrap a page about hubby and I with Valentines day coming up.”
Kim says, “When I saw the touches of gold in the mood board I couldn’t wait to use these brand new letters with the gold foil and the Minc machine from Heidi Swapp.”
Lauren says, “This one didn’t come together as I hoped but I think the feeling is there and it makes me smile seeing my beautiful Mum.”
Jamie says, “The February Mood board is fabulous!!! I loved everything about it! The black and white stripes with touches of gold. And the hint of green plus that all around traditional Valentine pink! It was a most beautiful inspiration piece to create with.”
Amanda says, “I loved everything about this board! The beautiful stripes, the pink and the red (swoon!) and the type print. I wanted to incorporate red paint and bold lettering as per top left image. I also had some layered stitched hearts from typo that were begging to be used too.”
Jodie says,”This is the first time I have ever used a mood board and it was fun. I had two goes, keeping both simple. A 12×12 and a 7×12. The 7×12 is going in my Project Life album.”
Janna says, “I love the February Mood Board – especially the stripes. I decided to create a layout that reminds of a collage.. torn paper, clips and different fonts. Love the outcome.”
and a few close up shots..
Raquel says, “I found this mood board so inspiring. After seeing it I immediately wanted to delve into my stash and find coordinating products. I loved the black and white stripe, the book paper and florals, the glitter from the cushion and the pops of red. I chose to use the square cookie as my main inspiration and that supported me choosing the frames to add to the page, particularly the frame with the heart inside it. And of course what is a ‘love themed’ mood board without a love themed page? So I have documented the story of hubby and me.”
Meghann says, “What a gorgeous mood board! I was inspired not only by the colors, but the square shapes of the pillows and biscuits and decided to create a simple grid with a large, bold title below in gold foil. ”
Awesome projects hey! What will you create?
