This challenge is now closed. Congratulations to our challenge winner, Sandra Bunch and thank you to our sponsor, Scrapbooking From Scratch.
We had such an overwhelming response to our first Mood Board challenge and requests to run another one that we have decided to do just that!
After many GENEROUS donations, we are thrilled to announce that we will be running the Mood Board challenges EVERY Friday — (for now) as we have enough sponsors for the next five weeks. YAY!
So this week’s challenge?
Loads of browns, greens and creams. And I threw the grumpy cat cushion in for something a bit quirky and fun (although he hardly looks like he is having any fun!)!
Image source: 1. Gypsy Tribal Bangles from Etsy. 2. Rustic boys bedroom via Pinterest here. 3. For a bit of quirky fun, grumpy cat pillow via Pinterest. 4. Apple crumble with pecans and oats from Pinterest. 5. Gingham ribbon from Etsy store, Dacgiri’s Ribbon Shop.
- Create a paper project using the above mood board as inspiration. Use the colours, textures, patterns and pieces to inspire you. It can be anything made with paper — tags, layouts, mini books, cards, Project Life journaling cards, paper garlands or any paper-y project your heart desires. Have fun with it. Use the colour palette and patterns to inspire the products and embellishments you choose and use the textures to inspire your project style — layered, simple, rustic, clean, detailed…

Here’s my take on the challenge>>
I must say I loved the colours when I put the mood board together but when it came time to make something, I felt like my layout was so BROWN and different from my usual style BUT that’s what challenges are all about — challenging you to try new things, new colour palettes, new ideas.
I loved this photo I snapped while waiting for my middle son to finish his shift at a city restaurant where he was doing work placement for his hospitality course in Year 12. (He ended up getting an after school job with them which has been fabulous!). Anyway, I LOVE the inner city of Newcastle and I love this time of the afternoon — almost 5pm — and I snapped this little shot on my phone while I sat in the car.
SO I wanted to use it in Project Life — I mean I didn’t need an ENTIRE scrapbook layout made — it was just a little memory I wanted to include. So I decided to make a 6x6inch page that I will slip into my Project Life album as a bit of an insert!
And a close up of some of the detail. Remember those Making Memories metal flowers! I dug deep into my supplies to find that one! Thanks again to Raquel from APOCD for the Flair button — those little buttons always fill up a spare spot very nicely!
And from Lisa Pate, one of our Support Team girls, who says, “When Kim first sent me the colours I was a little surprised as they are not Kim’s “usual” choice. To be honest, they are not mine!!! But once I started pulling together my supplies and added some zesty lime and warm white I was so pleased I had stepped out of my comfort zone.”
and a close up
and here’s another sample by one of our Support team members — Mardi Winen.
Mardi says, “I tell you what…scrapping a mood board challenge is fun! I love that the colour choices are decided…and all I had to do was scrounge through my stash and pull out anything that matched.
We can’t wait to see what comes in this time! So exciting. Challenge opens Friday 7 June and closes midnight 14 June 2013.
This week’s sponsor is the lovely Peta from Scrapbooking From Scratch. Our Mood Board Challenge winner will be able to treat themselves in the Scrapbooking From Scratch online store with their very own $15 gift voucher! Thanks Peta for being part of our Mood Board challenge.
